Your Safari Adventure Can Send a Child to School

Meet Grace — her dream starts with a uniform and a notebook

Grace’s story: 5km, one uniform, a future

At just 10 years old, Grace walks five kilometres every morning from her village in Kabale to reach the nearest primary school. Her worn-out shoes have been mended twice, but her smile never fades. “I want to be a teacher,” she says, clutching a tattered exercise book. Grace’s family struggles to afford school fees, let alone a proper uniform or enough books. But thanks to travellers who choose purpose-led safaris, children like Grace are getting a second chance.

Grace on her daily walk to school – supported by the Muninguzo Foundation.

Through the impactful work of Muninguzo Foundation, many vulnerable children in Uganda are now getting the opportunity to return to school and continue their education journey. Poverty remains one of the biggest barriers preventing children from accessing education in rural communities. Families struggle to provide school fees, uniforms and learning materials.

Visiting the school was the most moving part of our safari. Seeing the children’s joy — and knowing our trip helped provide those desks — made us feel we’d truly made a difference.
