★★★★★

Wagagai was life-changing. Standing in the caldera at sunrise with no one else around — I've climbed in five continents and Elgon is uniquely special.

The rafting on day 2 was wild — best Grade 4 I've done. Summit was tough but the guide kept us safe and motivated throughout.

★★★★★

Incredible variety in 8 days. From the Nile rapids to the caldera to Mabira canopy — Uganda's eastern side is completely underrated.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Helpful answers before you send an inquiry.

How difficult is the Elgon summit?

Challenging but non-technical. No ropes or climbing skills needed. Summit day is 10–12 hours. Strong fitness and cold-weather gear are essential.

What gear do I need?

Warm layers (temps drop to 0°C at summit), waterproofs, hiking boots, trekking poles, and a headlamp. We provide tents, sleeping bags and cooking equipment.

Is altitude sickness a concern?

Mount Elgon peaks at 4,321m — altitude sickness is possible. We ascend gradually. If symptoms appear, descent is immediate. Consult your doctor about Diamox before travel.

Can I combine this with a gorilla trek?

Yes — Elgon is in eastern Uganda, while gorillas are in the southwest. We can build a custom 12+ day itinerary combining both.
