★★★★★

Seeing chimps in the morning and lions in fig trees in the afternoon was surreal. The Kazinga cruise was a bonus I didn't expect to love so much.

★★★★★

Our guide Moses was extraordinary — patient, knowledgeable and brilliant at spotting wildlife. The gorilla trek on day 6 was a perfect finale.

★★★★

Excellent value for a 6-day trip covering so much ground. Logistics were smooth. Only note: lodges in Kibale are quite simple — worth upgrading if budget allows.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Helpful answers before you send an inquiry.

What is the best time for this route?

June—September and December—February are the driest months. Chimp and gorilla permits are available year-round, though rains make forest trails slippery.

Can I see tree-climbing lions on day 4?

Ishasha tree-climbing lions are not guaranteed — wildlife sightings never are. Your driver-guide will take multiple loops in the best fig tree areas. Most guests do see them.

What level of fitness is needed?

Easy to moderate. The chimp track involves some forest walking but on manageable terrain. The gorilla trek can be more demanding. Porter hire is available in Bwindi.

Can this trip be extended?

Yes — popular add-ons include a 7th day at Lake Bunyonyi or crossing into Rwanda for a second gorilla encounter. Ask us to customise.
